Learning from Dr. Hurwitz and servicing his patients are superb senior residents in Plastic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. Sarah Johnson PA-C, is his skilled physician assistant of over three years, who ably assists him in surgery, injects fillers and directs our highly successful pre surgical weight loss program of a 500 calorie diet with daily injection of HCG (Human Choriogonadatrophin hormone). Prior Total Body Lift patient and nurse’s aid, Mechelle Maloney is our patient advocate, providing preoperative counseling, special arrangements and post operative care. All patients the will be prepared, pampered and treated postoperatively in our recently opened Medi Spa, the Hurwitz Center for Rejuvenation. Mechelle joins, skin care specialists Molly O’tell and Jodi Wray to expedite and make more pleasant your recovery from major plastic operations through massage (including Endermologie), facials, phototherapy, electophysiological Therapy (Hyvamat),sequential pressure stocking therapy, and good old-fashion hand holding and counseling.

We are completing our first full year in our outpatient operating room approved by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities, Inc. We have successfully provided cosmetic and reconstructive surgery under local anesthesia, conscious sedation, deep sedation and general anesthesia followed by rapid recovery and discharge to home or nearby hotels for hundreds of our patients. We still offer admission to at Magee-Women’s Hospital, for those who need overnight stay or prefer or need hospital care. Otherwise many choose the privacy and convenience of our private clinic.

Dr. Dennis Hurwitz and his physician assistant Sarah Johnson are in the new operating room surrounded by views of the South Side of Pittsburgh across the Monongahela River.

The Hurwitz Center for Plastic Surgery is easily reached by highway from any direction, as it is located at the entrance of Oakland by the University of Pittsburgh at the intersection of Forbes and Boulevard of the Allies. For those flying in through Pittsburgh International Airport, we will arrange a complimentary limousine pick up. We have several nearby hotel locations that service our patients, prefering The Hampton Inn and the Wyndham Gardens within blocks of the office and Magee-Womens Hospital. The rooms are handicap accessible and equipped with microwaves and refrigerators. Dr. Hurwitz or one of his associates will visit you daily. Nursing aids are available around the clock. We have an advanced nutritional and postoperative care program for all our body lift patients.
