Brazilian Butt Lift Recovery

During the first six to eight weeks after a Brazilian butt lift, patients will need to follow specific instructions to protect the newly transplanted fat tissue. Since even low levels of pressure can compress the delicate tissue, patients should avoid sitting, squatting, performing high-impact activities, or sleeping on their backs. The Hurwitz Center in Pittsburgh, PA, can provide you with specific instructions for your Brazilian butt lift recovery so you can experience excellent results.*

Initial Recovery

Immediately after a Brazilian butt lift, you can expect to experience some bruising and swelling in the areas where liposuction was performed to harvest fat cells. Most patients are able to manage pain with either over-the-counter or prescription pain medication. After one to two days, you will likely be able to walk around, though you should avoid any high-impact activities, especially if they involve any type of bouncing. Your surgeon can provide you with a compression garment to maintain your results and minimize swelling.

The First Month

It is best not to sit at all during the first three weeks following a butt lift, as sitting can compress the transferred tissue and diminish your results. Your surgeon can recommend alternate resting postures to help you avoid sitting directly on the treated area. Patients tend to spend a lot of time lying on their sides during this initial recovery phase.

Most patients are able to return to their normal activities about six to eight weeks after their procedure.*

During the first month, you will need to be careful not to exert too much pressure on the fat grafts. In addition to avoiding sitting, you should avoid squatting or stretching. After about a month, you will likely be able to return to light activities like fast-paced walking. However, you should wait to start engaging in more vigorous exercise until cleared by your surgeon

It is very important to avoid sitting for about the first month following a Brazilian butt lift procedure.

Six to Eight Weeks

For most patients, it takes about two months to fully recover after a Brazilian butt lift. We recommend using a donut or other inflatable pillow if you do have to sit during this time. Placing a pillow under your legs can minimize the pressure on the fat graft. You should also sleep on your stomach or sides as much as possible.

Most patients are able to return to their normal activities about six to eight weeks after their procedure, as fat cells have typically stabilized. At this time, patients can usually resume more vigorous forms of exercise, such as jogging or running.*

Proper Recovery for Excellent Results

For the first two months after surgery, your newly transferred fat cells are extremely delicate. The best way to ensure that you experience the best Brazilian butt lift results possible is to carefully follow postoperative instructions from your surgeon.* To find out more about the procedure and the recovery process, you can contact our office online or call us at (866) 473-2570 to speak to a member of our team.
