Breast Augmentation

Women who desire to increase the size of their bust to create a more feminine silhouette choose breast augmentation, or breast implant surgery. Our staff and surgeons will thoroughly discuss your options when considering the location of incisions, size of implants, and the exact placement of implants. For some we perform an immediate 3-D simulation of the results for each appropriate style and size of implant. We also place special implant sizers within a special bra for you to see and feel the possible result. We take the time necessary to personally review an FDA mandated check list of facts and risks with silicone gel implants.

Our surgeons make a small incision at the breast fold or around the nipple. A proper space is made for the implant under the Pectoralis muscle or its fascia. They will then meticulously place an implant of your choosing under the breast tissue. Sutures are inserted to close the incisions and the doctor applies a compressive surgical brassiere to assist with recovery.

Breast Lift

Breast lift is a wonderful procedure that can dramatically rejuvenate a sagging or aging breast envelope. Each in their way, Drs. Hurwitz and Davila have mastered the subtle methods of breast lift, which is used to sculpt a new, shapely bust shape. The procedure, which generally takes two or more hours, begins by carefully removing excess skin from around the nipple areola complex and the lower portion of the breast near junction with the chest. After this is completed, the doctor will then gather the skin envelope to a close to create a tighter, smoother contour. Dr. Davila has devised a special Barbed Quill sutures technique that suspend your breasts for a long time acting as an internal "underwire". Some patients benefit from the addition of an artfully inserted a sheet of long acting biocompatible mesh which works as a complete internal brassiere. Once the breast lift procedure is complete, a compressive surgical bra is applied for recovery. Our Plastic Surgeons treat every patient with the individual attention required to create the most natural looking and feeling breasts. Every body is unique from everyone else’s. Breast Reduction

There are many reasons to consider breast reduction. Breasts that are too large can cause back pain and neck pain, hinder an active lifestyle, and for some women, embarrassing. If this is the case, then breast reduction can free your body of an uncomfortable weight, therefore allowing you to feel confident and able to do the activities you enjoy.

As with all procedures, the plastic surgeons customize the breast reduction technique to meet your needs. The procedure generally entails making incisions around the nipple areola complex, which extend downward to follow the natural curve of the crease under the breast. At this point, through a designed pattern, excess tissue and skin are removed which upon closure shapes your breast into the designated ideal silhouette. The nipple areola complex will then be repositioned into a natural position. After inserting sutures, a compressive bra is positioned to support the breasts during the initial recovery.

Breast Reconstruction

Following a mastectomy to treat or prevent breast cancer, some women are less confident in their femininity. Many patients feel that undergoing breast reconstruction is an important part of the healing process. By reconstructing the breast, using implants or the patient's own tissue, we can restore your silhouette and sense of well-being. Dr. Davila will carefully explain your options during a consultation at his Pittsburgh office. He will then tailor the surgery to meet your specific needs.*

Secondary Breast Surgery

When breast reshaping surgery with or without an implant change through maturation, excess scarring or delayed healing, a comprehensive evaluation and master surgery is needed. Following special advanced training in breast reconstruction, Dr. Davila brings to the Hurwitz Center complex techniques and experience to solve secondary breast deformity. Dr. Davila expertly ultrasound scans breasts for cysts, scarring and implant breakage.  HFUS examination is available at no charge to new and all repeat Hurwitz Center patients with implants. Dr. Davila has considerable success with a variety of absorbable meshes to cradle your new implant or maintain tissue suspension.
