We Offer Many Breast Surgery Procedures to Suit Our Patients' Needs
Breast surgery can be a sensitive topic of discussion for many women, which is why it is so important to be able to completely trust your doctor. Dr. Dennis Hurwitz in Pittsburgh, PA, provides his patients with a variety of breast surgery techniques that may be fully customized to meet individual needs. He has been performing plastic surgery for over thirty years and have perfected his skills over this time. Your safety and happiness are his primary concerns. So, Dr. Hurwitz takes his time to meet with each patient in a comprehensive consultation to determine your specific concerns, needs and, ultimately, your real desires.
Women who desire to increase the size of their bust to create a more feminine silhouette choose breast augmentation, or breast implant surgery. Age, pregnancy, and dramatic weight loss can all decrease the elasticity and voluptuousness of the breasts. The resulting sagging of the breasts can be disheartening to anyone wanting to look their best. Dr. Hurwitz takes genuine pride in his ability to create a fresher, more youthful breast contour for patients. Such abilities have made them one of the most sought-after plastic surgeons in our region.*
Dr. Hurwitz will thoroughly discuss your options when considering the location of incisions, size of implants, and the exact placement of implants. Such attention to detail has allowed many patients to feel exceptionally satisfied with the end result. In general, Dr. Hurwitz will make an incision under the breast fold and around the nipple. They will then meticulously place an implant of your choosing under the breast tissue. Sutures are inserted to close the incisions and the doctor applies a compressive dressing to assist with recovery.
Breast lift is a wonderful procedure that can dramatically rejuvenate a sagging or aging breast envelope. Dr. Hurwitz has mastered the subtle method of breast lift, which is used to sculpt a new, shapely bust line. The procedure, which generally takes two or more hours, begins by carefully removing excess skin from around the nipple areola complex and the lower portion of the breast near the breast fold. After this is completed, the doctor will then gather the skin envelope to a close to create a tighter, smoother contour. Special Barbed Quill sutures may be used to suspend your breasts for long time maintenance of the lift. Once the breast lift procedure is complete, a compressive dressing is applied for recovery. Dr. Hurwitz treats every patient with the individual attention required to create the most natural looking and feeling bust. Every body is unique from everyone else’s. As a result, Dr. Hurwitz treats each patient with the individual attention necessary to determine the appropriate technique for shaping your figure in the most flattering sense.
There are many reasons to consider breast reduction. Breasts that are too large can cause back pain and neck pain, hinder an active lifestyle, and for some women, be slightly embarrassing. If this is the case, then breast reduction can free your body of an uncomfortable weight, therefore allowing you to feel confident and able to do the activities you enjoy.
As with any procedure Dr. Hurwitz performs, they will customize the breast reduction technique to meet your specific needs. That being said, the procedure generally entails making incisions around the nipple areola complex, which extend downward and follow the natural curve of the crease under the breast. At this point, excess tissue and skin are removed to shape your breast into the designated ideal silhouette. The nipple areola complex will then be repositioned into a natural position. After inserting sutures, a compressive dressing is positioned to support the breasts during the initial recovery.
Transaxillary Breast Augmentation
The Hurwitz Center for Plastic Surgery in Pittsburgh is pleased to offer "scarless" breast augmentation. A procedure known as transaxillary breast augmentation.*
Instead of the tradition entry points around the nipple-areola complex, in the fold under the breast. The transaxillary method uses the armpit to open the space and introduce the silicone implant. The incision is closed and the scar required for the procedure is hidden in the axilla.
Due to recurring problems, we no longer offer Trans UmbilicaL Breast Augmentation. If you had a TUBA and have a problem with your breasts, please contact us.
Following a mastectomy to treat or prevent breast cancer, some women are less confident in their femininity. Many patients feel that undergoing breast reconstruction is an important part of the healing process. By reconstructing the breast, using implants or the patient's own tissue, we can restore your silhouette and sense of well-being. Dr. Hurwitz will carefully explain your options during a consultation at his Pittsburgh office. He will then tailor the surgery to meet your specific needs.*
