Restore Volume with
Facial Fat Injections
The Hurwitz Center for Plastic Surgery offers the most advanced techniques to help patients achieve their cosmetic goals. Using a specialized liposuction process, Dr. Dennis Hurwitz can use your own cells for rejuvenating fat injections, known as lipoaugmentation, which can help patients look years younger. Our patients in the Pittsburgh, PA, area have been thrilled with the anti-aging effects of this innovative procedure. Facial fat transfers are an effective way we can add youthful volume to your face and can restore the rounded contours you remember from years ago.*
About Facial Lipoaugmentation
Loss of volume in the face is a common effect of the aging process, and a primary reason we all begin to see loose skin and sagging facial features. As fat decreases and shifts, you lose youthful contours and naturally smooth skin texture around the eyes, cheeks, and mouth. You may see a more angular appearance, with sunken areas and pockets. Meanwhile, the jawline and neck may begin to accumulate unwanted fat and sagging skin.
Lipoaugmentation, also known as fat grafting or fat injections, uses your own body fat to replace lost volume in key areas. Harvested from the abdomen, buttocks, or thighs, your purified cells will be injected in carefully chosen areas. A minimally invasive procedure, fat transfers can provide a superior result compared to non-surgical fillers. The results can last for years and because the injections are made of your own cells, there is no chance of allergic reaction.* This same basic principle of removing fat from one area of the body and transferring it to another is key to the popular Brazilian butt lift procedure.
A fat transfer or lipaugmentation procedure is effective for:
- Plumping lips and cheeks
- Smoothing wrinkles around the mouth
- Filling nasolabial wrinkles
- Reducing undereye bags
- Improving the appearance of tear troughs
- Treating forehead lines and filling in temples
Many patients can achieve a significantly enhanced appearance with one, minimally-invasive procedure, without the need for a full facelift.*
Treatment with Dr. Hurwitz
Dr. Hurwitz has many years of experience performing all types of facial plastic surgery and non-surgical treatments. He has impressive credentials and training in fat transfers, including personal training from the renowned originator of lipoaugmentation, New York plastic surgeon Dr. Sydney Coleman. Dr. Hurwitz performs facial lipoaugmentation in his outpatient surgical center. Most patients can remain comfortable during the procedure with use of local (numbing) anesthesia only, but further sedation options are also available.
Initially, a small amount of fat is removed from the body using a special liposuction technique. This method is different from body contouring liposuction and is specifically designed to preserve the integrity of living cells. The fat retains its rich blood supply, ensuring long-term survival after the transfer. Using a tiny needle and his keen eye for aesthetics, Dr. Hurwitz injects fat into the face to achieve the desired effect and natural-looking results. There is little downtime required after the procedure, and you can typically expect to enjoy results the same day. Some minor swelling is possible, but should subside in a day or two.*
If you are looking to improve your appearance and diminish signs of aging fat injections for lipoaugmentation may be for you.
At the Hurwitz Center for Plastic Surgery, many patients choose to include fat grafting with other rejuvenating procedures, such as an eye lift or face lift. This is an ideal combination for dramatic improvement and to create new, youthful contour with elimination of unwanted fat and loose, excess skin.*
