Fat augmentation has long been utilized by Plastic Surgeons for volume restoration of the face for long time with long lasting results. The fat is conveniently removed using a small liposuction cannula from the patient under local anesthesia. It is then spun to remove excess fluids and then carefully injected into a desired anatomical location. One the micrografts of fat form blood supply at their recipient site, they should last for ever. This technique is now extended to replace the lost fat from the ageing hands. The results are remarkable smoothing of the hands and coverage of the visible veins.
