Traditional Liposuction

Target areas for liposuction include the thighs, knees, arms, chest, abdomen, neck, and chin. The procedure typically involves making several small incisions, into which a small tube called a cannula is inserted. The cannula is moved back and forth to loosen fat deposits and remove the excess fat. 

Why VASERlipo®?

VASERlipo® is minimally invasive, and patients usually see significant results after just one treatment. Unlike traditional liposuction, VASERlipo® applies ultrasound technology to break apart fat. This process is gentler and results in less blood loss during the procedure. VASERlipo® also allows us to work more precisely on sculpting contours and trimming problem areas.*

The VASERlipo® Procedure

During your procedure, you will first receive injections of tumescent fluid-filled with microscopic gas bubbles. The fluid is usually a saline solution containing a mixture of xylocaine and epinephrine. This will numb the area and shrink surrounding blood vessels while expanding the volume of the target area so that the doctor can easily remove unwanted fat cells.

VASERlipo® is gentler and results in less blood loss during the procedure. The technique also allows surgeons to work more precisely on sculpting contours and trimming problem areas.

We will then make a small incision and insert thin probes. The multi-ringed probes vibrate at a high ultrasound frequency, expanding and collapsing the gas bubbles to dislodge fat cells. As they are loosened, fat cells mix with the tumescent fluid. We then use special vented cannulas or Power Assisted Lipoplasty to remove the fat, while leaving surrounding tissue unaffected.

The procedure takes an hour or more, depending on the size and number of areas being treated. The fat removed during VASERlipo® can often be transferred to accentuate another area of the body for procedures such as buttock or breast augmentation.

Recovery and Aftercare

VASERlipo® is an outpatient surgery, so you will be able to go home after the procedure. Wewill prescribe a recovery regimen, including wearing special compression garments to further enhance contouring. You will need to rest for 12 hours, avoid strenuous activities for two or three weeks, and the doctor may recommend massage therapy.

In the days following the procedure, you should notice significant results. These aesthetic effects will typically continue improving as you heal and your skin retracts. You can expect to see final results approximately three to four months after treatment.*
